Business owner disputes require applications of both corporate law and dispute resolution methods. Disputes between business owners inevitably arise in corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies.
Shareholder or member disputes can occur for a variety of reasons including, but not limited to:
- A desire by one or more shareholder/member to terminate the shareholder/member relationship
- A disagreement with actions taken by the majority shareholders/members
- A claim by a minority shareholder/member that the actions of controlling shareholders/members are either fraudulent, illegal or oppressive
Whatever the cause of the dispute, SCC offers the expertise and experience to resolve same in the best interests of its clients. These resolutions include negotiations, buyouts and, as a last resort, litigation.
The best solution of course is to have agreements in place to prevent or at least plan for future disputes. We at SCC have extensive experience in providing clients with tailor made agreements to accomplish these goals.
